Sri MahaKaleshwar Mandir is the first Jyotirlingam Shiva temple established in the 
California Bay Area, USA. Jyothirlingam is engraved with 1,116 smaller Shivalingams, 
known as a Sahasralingam. 

TEMPLE HOURS: All Days 9 am to 9:30 pm

PRIEST SERVICES: Temple provides all priest services at temple and your home. Services include:

Pujas and Homas: Ganesha Homam, Rudra Homam, Sudarshan Homam, Chandi Homam, Maha Mrityunjaya  Homam, Nawa Graha Homam, House Warming Ceremony etc.
Naming ceremony, Anaprasanam, Upanayanam, Wedding Ceremony, Satya Narayana Puja, Gauri vratam, Ananta Padmanabha Vratam, kedareswara Vratam,
Chandi Parayanam, Sundarkand Parayanam and all other hindu ceremonies.
Shradha Ceremonies - Sankalpa, Hiranya and Parvana Shradha. Amawasya Tarpanam etc.

DRESS CODE: Guests are encouraged to dress in traditional Hindu clothing when visiting temple. Alternatively, modest and comfortable clothing that does not show lot of skin is permitted. No shorts, short/mini dresses, tank tops.

EVERY EVENING: Devi aarti in  Shakti shrine, with Sri Pratyangira & Bhairava Ashtottara archana, from 6 to 6:30 pm on Weekdays. Nitya Puja, Arati, and Shiva Ashtothram in main shrine,  6:30 to 7 pm on Weekdays and at 5.00 to 6.00pm Weekends.

NIGHTLY Rudrabhishekam at 7 pm with additional pujas (may be cancelled when other programs conflict):

  • Mondays:  Somvar Rudrabhishekam
  • Tuesdays:  Subrahmanya Abhishekam and puja with Subrahmanya Ashtothram
  • Wednesdays: Sridevi, Bhudevi sahita Sri MahaVishnu Abhishekam and puja with Vishnu Sahasranama chanting
  • Thursdays: Sri Dakshinamurti puja with Ashtothram
  • Fridays:  Ardhanariswara and Lalita Devi Abhishekam followed by Sri Lalita Sahasranamam 
  • Saturdays: Abhishekam to Maha Kali (Devi)
  • Sunday: Rudrabhishekam to Mahakaleshwar (Maha Lingam)

Saturdays 3.30pm to 6.30 pm. Learn to chant the Rudram and other suktams . All welcome!  Free.
Sundays 5.00pm to 6.00 pm. Learn to chant and understand Vishnu Sahasranamam . All welcome!  Free.
Mr. Venkatesan Yuvraj is conducting free YOGA classes at the temple sunday’s morning at 8:00A.M and wednesday’s at 7:00p.m.
Please join the classes to learn several Yogasanas. All welcome! FREE. 

MEDITATION HALL. Our main hall is now available for silent meditation, with japa malas, mantra cards, and instructions for you to use at your convenience.

TEMPLE NEEDS the following items on a continuing basis:  Flowers and fruits (daily); rose water, Ganga jal, milk, yogurt, juice, and honey for abhishekams (all items must be new and unused), large containers of sesame oil for lamps. If you are going to India and would like to bring something back for the temple, please contact temple management for the WISH LISTPlease DO NOT bring:  used, opened, or discarded items, old puja things from your house that you don’t want anymore; foodstuffs other than rice. We DO NOT need Dal, Atta, Vegetables.

Prasadam: You are welcome to prepare prasadams at home WITHOUT garlic or onions, to bring to offer to the deities and share with devotees.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:   The temple needs volunteers who would be able to be in the temple during any of the following times: Fridays and Mondays between 12:30 and 8:30 pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 5 and 8:30 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.   Please email info@srimahakalmandir.org if you are interested in volunteering during any of these times please contact temple management.
